Celebrating the Feast of St. Mary of the Angels (2/8/2026)

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour." (Luke 1:46–47)

Jaipur, 2 August 2026: The Franciscan Sisters of St. Mary of the Angels (FSMA), St. Mary's Convent, Jagatpura, celebrated the Feast of St. Mary of the Angels with thanksgiving and joy, marking the 155th Foundation Anniversary of the Congregation, founded on 2 August 1871 by Fr. Chrysostom OFM Cap. and Mother Marie Chrysostom of the Cross.

The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Most Rev. Joseph Kallarackal, Bishop of Jaipur, with five priests concelebrating. In his homily, the Bishop reflected on the Portiuncula, the little chapel of St. Francis of Assisi, urging the sisters to make their chapel a place of prayer and encounter with God (Psalm 46:10). Drawing inspiration from Mary's Fiat (Luke 1:38),

He encouraged them to live lives of humility, hope, compassion, and unwavering trust in Divine  Providence (Romans 8:28).

The feast highlighted the Congregation's Franciscan charism of serving Christ through education, healthcare, pastoral care, and social outreach. The sisters gratefully remembered their founders and all those who have faithfully carried forward the mission over the past 155 years.

The celebration concluded with cultural presentations and a fellowship meal, renewing the sisters' commitment to serve with the humility of Mary and the simplicity of St. Francis. "Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).
